The mission of the US Southern Colonies project is to add and improve profiles of early and significant US Southern Colonists - Colonial Americans who lived in what is now the southern part of the United States of America. Project members take primary responsibility for relevant profiles or family groups and work on merging duplicates, cleaning up profiles, adding sources, and removing incorrect information.

Please post here if you would like to join.  Here is our project to page:

Kimberly, we're currently rethinking the US Southern Colonies project.  When we've figured it out, we'll have a new announcement.
Hello,

I would like to join this project. I have many, many ancestors in the Southern States of Colonial America (primarily Virginia & the Carolinas). My ancestors are from the Prater/Prather, Green/Greene, Crawford, Hallum, Meriwether, Hargis, Bates, Hubbard, Parks, Tubbs, Rucker, & Wasson, to name a few.

Amy, as the opening post states, The US Southern Colonies project is being re-organized; we will open a new thread when we've figured it all out.

I encourage you to check out the Virginia and North Carolina projects.

I would like to join the Southern Colonists Project
Yes I would. Jillaine let me know that it was currently being reorganized. Unsure when I should apply again & it'll be ready. Amy
When we're able to get to it, we will post a new announcement. It may take awhile. Other priorities and pandemics are hindering our progress.
In the meantime, consider joining the Virginia and/or Maryland projects.
I want to join this project?  What do I need to do?  My family is from Virginia 1700 s.  tnx  David W. Green

David, as the comments above indicate,

as the opening post states, The US Southern Colonies project is being re-organized; we will open a new thread when we've figured it all out.

In the meantime, I encourage you to check out the Virginia project.

I would like to join the Southern Colonies Project. I would love to be on the biography team.

Hi,

I would love to join the US Southern Colonies Project! I am a southerner, and so the bulk of my ancestors were southern colonists. I am especially interested in the Hunnicutt family, who are the colonists from whom my surname comes, and I have seen that their profiles on WikiTree need quite a bit of cleaning up.

Hi, I would like to join the US Southern Colonies Project. I stumbled upon this project through noticing a possible duplicate of Sara Elizabeth Oxford and Sarah Elizabeth Oxford ( wife of Joel Terrell). After spending quite a while considering the merge I came across information regarding Sarah's father - John Oxford (Oxford-205) - who is project protected. I would like to add John Oxford's parents or provide the information source so they can be considered ( and added if agreed). I live near Norwich in England. I do not have a family connection that I know off to any person covered by this project.

I would like to join the US Southern Colonies project, particularly the sub-project Virginia 1607 to June 25, 1788 since I am researching ancestors who arrived Virginia starting in 1635.

Yes, I would like to join. I received a request to join while entereng in information for [[Carrier-1330|Sarah Ann (Carrier) Chapman]].  Her husband, John Chapman 1663-1749, should be involved with this as well.

I have done a fair bit of research and cross-checking in an online source where I created a 30K+ tree. As of yet, no success on trimming it so that the GEDCOM will upload. (Who knew a GEDCOM image could be too large?)

Meanwhile, specific to this project, I have a keen interest in the migration of the Kennedys to Canadys, as well as a DNA mix that covers the latter and Eastern NC and SC settlers. It seems that this might be the best project fit for the contributions that I hope to be able to make.

Fann Fann, the link to your profile is not showing. Are you signed in? Please leave a message on my profile so that I can add your badge. Thanks!!
I apologize to those of you who had a wait for your badge!! I’ve had a couple of family emergencies and apparently missed a few of you!! Please feel free to post a message on my profile or send me a PM if I am delayed in responding.
"Can you see me know?"

;)

Please let me know (or I will notice if the Project badge shows later, of course). TYFYT

You should be able to "see me" at [[Fann-206|Fann Fann]], where the Fann Fann can ;)

Please add my Southern Colonies badge. Does that cover me for editing ancestors who were progenitors? As you may note from the tags that I have added, I am aware of ancestry/ethnicity, plus I have 1,000s of profile additions that are parked at Ancestry.com, because my GEDCOM image is too large.

AncestryDNA Ethnicity (Percent) Estimates:

Thanks for your help. Please respond at your earliest convenience, as I am presently unable to edit any [and add(?)] any profiles from pre-1750.

Thanks again,

Paula, Please add me to the US Southern Colonies Project.  I would like to join.  As I research my brick walls, ancestors, connecting families, I have saved many sources over the years, hoping for answers.   I wish to collaborate with, and donate gathered info to fellow researchers.  Especially migrating pioneers and patriots : DE, MD, PA, VA, NC, GA, TN.  Thank you

I've tried adding the tag, and keep getting the error to only enter one tag at a time. (Both as Southern Colonies and Southern_Colonies.)

From having worked up 1,000s of profiles at Ancestry.com in my pedigree, lineage of ancestors and 100s of cousins, I have confirmation that the AncestryDNA also showed. They found migrations in evidence of Eastern NC Settlers as well as SC Settlers.
