Did she die or divorce William? Mary was born in 1859 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and died in Boston, MA. She married William Godfrey, II (1859-1923) on February 17, 1881 in Boston, MA. It is noted that she is white. Mary did not have any children with William before she died early (maybe during a failed childbirth in 1882). Parents: George and Mary J. Walker. William married Laura Van Hise (1863-1933) in November 20, 1884 in Boston, MA.

This does not answer the question about divorce, but shows a child of a William and Mary Godfrey in MA.
