Did Winifred Pearl Knapp really die before 1920?

Question

My cousin Winifred Pearl Knapp married Thomas Michael Bullard in 1917 in Mendocino, California. In 1920 he listed himself as widowed in Arizona and remarried in 1921. But I cannot find evidence of Winnie's death. Also I see that in 1970 a Winifred Knapp died in Oregon with a husband of George. Could this be my Winifred?

I also find it strange that Thomas first married Winifred who was 20 years younger and then married Julia V Maddox Palmer who was 20 years older.

so sad that this was the end of this branch of the family as she was an only child. she died of tuberculosis.
