Help I cannot find a connection on wikitree between these two profiles Prothero-9 and Gollwyn-2  there should be one I have the family tree of both but I can't find that connection
in Genealogy Help by Michelle Lyons G2G2 (2.1k points)

Hi Michelle,

There's no blood relationship available (yet) in WikiTree because the eldest ancestors on any line connected to Prothero-9 were born at the end of XVI century. You can find it by climbing each of the lines of the family tree.

You can figure out a connection between both persons if you look at their connections to one of the "Connection Anchors", e.g. to Kevin Bacon.

If you go to the bottom of their profiles you'll find links like this "(Person name) is xx degrees from Kevin Bacon". Clicking on the link the connection path from Kevin Bacon to that person is showed, so joinning both paths you'll have a connection between Mattie and Cydifor.

Hope this post would be useful for you:

Reubén, how do we tag Michelle Wilkes & Tom Wilde in this?  (Please see my answer below) they may be able to give Michelle a hand?
Lizzie, none of them are following the tags on this post,

I think the best way would be sending them a private message with the link to this post.
Great minds !-)
I have not done any work on the line of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Protheroe-59

From the profile - his father was son of "Rees" - you might get a few hits if you try looking for "Rhys" or even "Rice" "Price" or "Brice" with the 1600 time era - some families dropped ap/ab and added a P or B to the LNAB.

To be honest, I quit working on Wales profiles when the naming rule for "ap" in the LNAB (instead of CLN) was added a year or so ago. The "ap" leaves out the possibility of "ab" and meant renaming too many profiles to be efficient/effective.
Hello! I got the requests to merge profiles, but the dates are so disparate and the names not so uncommon, I'm not comfortable merging yet (and changing birth dates by 60 years). I don't have the time at this moment to research the surrounding lines to look for verification. I'm sorry - but thanks for looking into it...
Agreed with the Eaton Profile but the other two other two I've sent through to you I think are very likely, its a riddle that need solving? I don't think the profiles of any of these Welsh ancestors are unrelated... Its up to you guys to figure out how really? I wanted to put you in touch with each other to see if you can tie it all up!

If I can help let me know, I've not added much Welsh tree but have a lot of Welsh knowledge!

Hi Michelle,

Welcome to Wikitree,

[Michelle Brooks] profile manager of Cyfidor b.1030 Gollwyn-2 is a very active wikitree member and knows a lot about very early profiles, I suggest you message her as I'm not sure how to tag her in this.

Prothero-9, Mattie b.1856 California has no profile manager so you could adopt this profile? As Reuben says, at the bottom of this profile it shows Mattie is only 18 degrees from wikitreer of the week Kay Smith.

I wonder if you meant Protheroe?? A quick look at your tree and a possible watchout, I think you may be creating additional profiles for early profiles for example Protheroe-58 is a possible duplicate of Rhydderch-12 managed by Tom Wilde..... The mine field of early welsh naming!!!

Well the Welsh naming system the archaic Roman Welsh language translated to English and then to American has been a nightmare so Prothro and protheroe and pyrrderch are all versions of the same surname the problem is I keep finding these names with slightly different dates of birth and especially the archaic line is hard to follow because they don't list all the children with the proper connection back to the first cydifor far. I have a copy sent to me by the Welsh Heritage division by an archivist that shows his line all the way down to Evan and I also have a family tree given to me from my great-grandfather William all the way up to Evans Father John but I can't Source it properly if the names are not already on wikitree and I can't find the proper reference with are direct ancestor and his children all in one place if that makes sense
It makes perfect sense!

I'm positive my grandmothers line starts with Ap Evan but I can't prove it unfortunately so you're doing better then me, I'm only back to the late 1700's

I've messaged Michelle and Tom with the details of the help you need, you have to be pre 1500 certified to help out on ancient profiles and I think they both are so can help with sourcing!
If it would be helpful I can upload the genealogy information I have both pieces on Monday from my work if I have an email to send it to you that would be helpful
Feel free, I'll see if I can help at all,

If you ask some specific queries you're working on so I'm not wandering round your documents aimlessly please! Haha
