Can anyone tell me the birth date code in Mayflower Births and Deaths, Vol. 1 and 2?

Yes, b. means birth and bpt. means baptism.  Sometimes there are surviving  records that include both dates, sometimes there's a record of one date but not the other, and sometimes there are no surviving records of a child's birth or baptism. We work with the records we have.

just a guess on my part, but wouldn't "bpt" mean Baptism?
