Is there a category for Virginia Burgess'?  Many of them share family relationships and marriage connections.

Thanks R.J.  I didn't know being a Burgess was such a big deal.  I am finding Jamestowne history to be fascinating.
Hi there! I find this to be of particularity great interest to me as my y-dna results recently came back and I only had 4 matches One was an Amos Hilton from around 1814 that appears to be a black family while I am white (also my haplogroup was pegged as E-M81), one was a William Mellard, one was a Stephen Clegg & a one was a John Burgess all tracking back to South Carolina or in the Burgess case the Georgia/SC border area... This is all news to me as I have none of those names in my paper trail as of yet. any insights you might be able to share would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Trudy

I didn't look to see if you are already a member but there is a Jamestown Project that may interest you.  I am researching "Ancient Planters" of Virginia which is another offshoot.  Here is the Jamestown Project page.

Thank you David.  I am also researching Ancient Planters.  Thomas Gray right now.  I have a couple as cousins and a direct line.
