Why does my input under "Tree" never take?

I am ready to give up on this site.  I have input my mother's parents 10 or 11 times in both "Tree" and "Profile" status and it doesn't take.

Additionally, this is not a FREE site because I get annoying adds that pop up all the time and want me to spend money on "searches" of a personal kind.  I would rather pay a fee for a desired site than put up with pop up right when I am getting somewhere.  If advertising is the way to keep it free count me out.  Nothing is free and that was hammered home again today on the umpteenth disruptive ad.

I just think it is way too hard to get the information into your program.  It should be easy.  Brighterminds than mine needs to make it simple from the start.  There should not be a learning curve.

Something's definitely off because if we look at Margaret's contributions, there's been no activity since 4 September. That's making me think, Margaret, you're either not logged on while trying to add profiles OR perhaps you're not clicking on the "Add [father/mother] for..." after entering the data into the form.

Techies, is there something else that could be going on?

Hi Margaret,

I'm sorry you are experiencing so many frustrations with WikiTree tonight.  This may seem obvious, sorry if it does, but have you double-checked that you are logged in to WikiTree?  Ads only appear on the pages of guests, free-space pages and the G2G so usually if a full member is a seeing them it's because they aren't logged in.  It would also explain why your info wouldn't be saving when you enter it.   If you ARE logged in, please let us know so we can look into the situation further as these aren't difficulties we want members to have.

Thanks!

Truly, there should not be pop-up ads at all for members logged-in ! Are any other people experiencing this problem ?

I did actually have that problem once but it was because I had picked up a virus. I could still use the site fine but I had ads everywhere, even when I was logged in. I got them on other sites too, like Wikipedia, not just WikiTree, so it was definitely me, not the site, that was the problem.
I have never seen a pop up and as Eowyn said, there are no ads on proile pages.

Also, the phrase ''searches of a personal kind' sounds a bit strange.  There are ads for various genealogy sites eg MyHeritage or FindMyPast which refer to searching records.  Is this what you are seeing, Margaret?  These ads are not popups but appear on the right hand side eg in G2G under the list of categories for posting.
I've never experienced pop up ads on wikitree.
I get them all the time on G2G. And not just genealogical ones.

But presumably without them WT couldn't exist.
I have been watching closely this evening.  As well as genealogical I have had an electrical energy company, a local tree-pruning company, insurance ads and a business card company.  But all of them are banner ads on the right hand side of the screen, no pop ups, and nothing of a personal nature whatsoever.

Of course, Google ads tailor the subject to the user, but they state - and I have found it to be true - that they make no ads of a sensitive or personal nature.
Martin, are you getting *pop-up* ads or banner ads on the right?
Neither have I. Not a single one.
Sorry, Jilliane, misunderstanding. No pop-ups. Just banner ads.
