I am hoping to find some record of my Great Grandfather, Michael Henry Deluce. As he was Greek, I believe the translation of his name is probably Μιχαήλ Χένρι Ντε Λούκα, believed born in     1848 in Candia (now Heraklion) Crete. The challenge here is to be able to trace his family in Candia through Greek records...in Greek. I don't even know where to begin with this, and I don't understand Greek. Any suggestions?

You could try going to Google translate. It has Michael Henry de Lucca as the translated name from Greek, Μιχαήλ Χένρι Ντε Λούκα.

You could also try going to familysearch.org/search and enter the name, Michael Henry deLucca. Give him a fairly wide birth range like 1844 to 1852 and leave the birthplace location blank. Here are the first two results:

Michael Delucca     familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M59S-HLX

Michael Delucca, father  familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FXK8-79C
