Can info from Find-a-Grave be posted on WikiTree?

If I find some info for one of my profiles on Find-A-Grave ... can I post it here on wikitree? I want to make sure I'm not violating any policy that I may not be aware of. Just checking.

Find a grave is easy picking, which is why you'll find it on so many profiles.

By all means use the information that comes from photos of tombstones. Yes, tombstones can have errors too, but sometimes they are the only existing piece of evidence. Don't directly add Find a grave images here unless the photographer has given permission. A link is quick and doesn't take up server space here. (I have 30,000+ photos at Find a Grave. I don't even use my own photos here. I link to them.)

As for the unsourced information on memorials that is not on a stone-- The person who added it to FaG found it somewhere. You can find it too. If it's sourced information, go to the source they mention and cite that instead.

I like to think that the genealogists here are a cut above and can find a better source than unsourced Findagrave information. Go for the fruit at the top of the tree

There's a certain amount of "fair use" allowed from any site, unless they make it clear that you are not allowed to use any information in any way. Even then, fair use typically applies. However, it is generally not a good thing to copy word-for-word from anywhere, but better to summarize and then cite the original source. So my recommendation would be that unless you can find where Find-A-Grave got their original information (they don't have original sources at their site, so they got it from somewhere else), I wouldn't plagiarize their info, but reword, summarize, and cite.

When using Find-a-Grave, be aware of some fake information as mentionned in this other thread...
