What would be the best disposition of a Coffey genealogy book, of the Kentucky and North Carolina Coffey family?

I came into possession of a book of the Coffey genealogy that has documentation of 8 generations of the family... most appear to be from Wayne County, KY or Burke County, NC... I would like to get it back into the hands of the family if possible, or someone who could put the information to its best use... Any help?..

If you can't find a family member, you could also check whether a public library in one of those counties has the book and, if not, whether they'd like to have it.

If you google Coffey you will find blogs and a website called Coffey Cousins.  There is contact information there for several people.

Hello, I am Grace McChesney Boerner, and my Jordan and Coffee lines have intermarried in North Carolina, Hancock/Hawkins Tennessee, and Kentucky.  2nd ggpa Enoch Jordan married Addie Coffee in North Carolina around 1838.  Addie is daughter, I believe, of Bennett Coffee and Sarah Ferguson.  I have other Coffey relatives I have been trying to track down.  Jane Coffee and Jordan Coffey are ancestors as well.  I have been struggling for years to identify the father of my 3rd ggpa Woodford Jordan.  He lived near Jane Coffey and Bennet Coffey in Rockingham, North Carolina in 1810 Census.  Within my Jordan line I have a Marvel Jordan, Calvin and Calton Jordan, and other Coffey names.  I would love to at least be able to see this documentation.  Any chance I could?  Grace

I am a direct descendant of the Coffey line in Virginia and North Carolina.  My grandmother was a Leona Matilda Coffey Walberg  (San Francisco, CA); her father was John William Coffey (Texas); his mother, Matilda Bridges Coffey (Texas); her mother, Lucilla Coffey Bridges; her father, Joel Coffey (1790-1859; Virginia & Texas); his father, Nathan Coffey (1760-1823); his father, Joel Coffey (1730-1789, Wilkes County, North Carolina; his father, Edward Joshua Coffey (1700-1774; Essex County, Virginia & Albermarle, Virginia); his father, Edward Coffey (1660-1699 ; Ireland & Essex County, Virginia); his father John Coffey, Sr. (1620-?; Cork Munster, Ireland); his father, Hugh Coffee (1494-1620, Ireland). If you don't find a good home for your book, I would love to have it and will make it available for reference to all Coffey descendants.

Hi Doris,

Did you receive the Coffey book?   I'm a descendant of Edward Joshua Coffey too.  Has it been digitized? If so, I'd love to see it!
