Who Was Moses Stanley?

Moses Stanley seems to be a gatekeeper for many of our early American ancestors, possibly including my own. Yet we don't have terribly much verified evidence about him. Who were his parents? Where does he fit in the scheme of history?

Curiously, President Obama's mother and grandfather were given the first name of Stanley. Was it in commemoration of an early ancestor, Moses Stanley?

Help history be remembered. Who was Moses Stanley?

I can find NO evidence that Nancy Gurnell existed.

I can find NO evidence of any Gurnells in Virginia at the time indicated and No evidence of a Stanley - Gurnell union.

Eddie, Respect your abilities. If you say that there is no evidence of Nancy Gurnell even existing, I'll erase he connection from my recently adopted Moses Stanley profile. The only problem? Who was Moses' wife...if we leave it blank someone will fill it in. And I'll be "Nancy Gurnell" will be the profile they choose. What to do, cousin-of-my-heart?
If Moses got a US Navy Pension, there might be a FOLD3 for him? I don't have a FOLD3 subscription. You might message Keith McDonald , a leader on the Military War project? He might have FOLD3 access.
The image says pension ended in March 1820. Possible date of death?
