Planning a Route 66 Vacation this Summer?

Question

I just created a subcategory for United States Ghost Towns called Ghost Towns on Route 66:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Ghost_Towns_on_Route_66

If anyone is planning to travel the old Route 66 for their vacation this year it would be great if you could take photos of the old ghost towns and share them with us--even if it's just desert and/or a sign.  I have a Free Space Page just for Ghost Town photos and information you can use:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Ghost_Towns_in_the_United_States

Also, if there's any Ghost Towns on Route 66 that I've missed you can either add them or tell me what they are and I'll add them.  My overall goal with this subcategory is that if you're traveling Route 66 you can use Wikitree as a guide to the Ghost Towns.

I just asked if I could add  Route 66 to California Historic places  and now I see you have it under Ghost Towns??? never would thought to look there........I lived in California til I retired at 60 and lived within walking distance of it until then.

Saundra has not been active in Wikitree for a couple of years. It looks like her initiative to document Route 66 ghost towns was transformed into part of a larger effort to document U.S. ghost towns in general.

My daddy loved Route 66 and in 1973 he planned our family's 2 week vacation out West. We took Route 66 and it was a great time!! So many great memories! Would love to go back on it one day! Thanks for the question!

You wouldn't have any copies of his old photos of the trip, would you?  Some of the ghost towns have been razed fairly recently but if you have access to photos of the ghost towns in the 70s it would be great!

That's on my bucket list! :-) I did see a part of it in Oklahoma.
