We're starting Saturday morning at 12:01 EDT (GMT -4), April 21, i.e. after midnight Friday night.

The event runs until Monday at midnight EDT, April 23. We have these set times so that Wiki Genealogists from all over the world will be participating together, at the same time.

Here is a time zone calculator if you need help figuring out the right time in your part of the world.

Hi Team are you all ready for the Spring Clean-a-Thon !?

This is our Clean-a-Thon chat G2G, so let's have some fun and (get rid of) correct as much error suggestions as possible, your own, the project profile error suggestions, mine ;) or someone else's, if he or she wants some help with his or her error report and..don't forget to communicate, always use the explain what you did field and/or add posts, sources and so on and of course don't forget to update the status !

Good luck and lot's of fun for all Flying Dutchmen !

Note: Aleš has developed a way to perform automatic tracking for the Clean-a-Thon changes so we don't need to report or add links of profiles here or at the Team page, to show what we have corrected or where we added posts or sources this time.

Quick question: I did Team 811 cleanup on this profile and added the {{Dutch Roots|Needs=More Records}} template.  Would someone please verify that it is appropriate.

Hi Debi !

Thanks for your help and almost correct, for profiles that don't have the project added as co manager you now can add the sticker (just add the word Sticker to it and place it below the Biography) so

 {{Dutch Roots Sticker|Needs=More Records}} (already added it for you ;) )

Keep up the great work and have fun this weekend !

You mean the Captain and Tennille (aka Pumpkin) have errors...oh my...... roflmao.....we are going to need that motivation picture asap :-)
by Melissa McKay G2G6 Mach 3 (38.2k points)
Pumpkin is of course without errors, but aye aye the Captain I'm sure has some errors left :p

Wahahaha, one of the most beautiful profiles I have ever seen [[van_der_Veen-9|Ebele Aizes van der Veen]] gives a bunch of 'errors'(pardon 'Suggestions'). But I wouldn't change a bit on it.

I will try to mark it as a false suggestion Bea ;-)

by Margreet Beers G2G6 Pilot (151k points)

hmmmmm I can't seem to find any suggestions for van_der_Veen-9 (Ebele Aizes van der Veen) there is though a lot of suggestions for other members of the family.

Well it's the same 831 suggestion that's also in the other profiles. (If you scroll down you will see it, because it's still there. But I wouldn't worry about it. If you wait for 3 months they will find another rule about how they think the Profiles should look like. But those profiles are trully beautifull so my advice don't change it

Changed it a 'bit'..and... it took me almost all morning, these profiles are very creative but woow a whole lot of work if you need or want to work on them..

The fancier the profile the more work it takes to change things.  Profile looks great :-)
The profile still looked quite poor in February, a creative member came along and sourced and improved them all, and we can't complain eeh, they all now are loaded with sources and the photo's are great  :)

In case we want to coordinate efforts, this is what I am planning to work on.

Dutch roots project errors from 1800-1899, specifically:

After that I plan to move on to general Netherlands errors, to whatever appeals at that time. If someone else has already mentally claimed these I would be happy to split the work!
by W Robertson G2G6 Pilot (119k points)
Sounds great W. and yes perhaps it's a good idea to add what we all are planning to work on or start with, to prevent we all are working on the same eeh ? Would you all like a list of errors you can chose from, so a similar list perhaps like we had during the Source-a-Thon ? Lists by Province perhaps ?
Good idea W.

Bea, first a question. Should we concentrate on the DR profiels first before going to the general Netherlands list? Those profiles are already in our Project and are more likely to be correct. Because in that case I can concentrate on the same errors as W but then for the period 1700-1799. (For instance the 511 suggestion is an easy one for us all. Most of those first names are correct, it's just a false suggestion and can be hidden forever). Maybe someone else with a pre 1700 certificate can take 1600-1699, because there are 495 items in there)

Sounds like a great idea to me Margreet. Everyone can of course start with his or her own suggestion list and when that one is cleared or if someone would prefer to work on the more Project or Country specific suggestions like indeed the 511 Unique name suggestions, that's also ok, all project members are pre-1700 certified, so if someone would like to work on the 1500-1699 ones just let us know.  It would be nice to be sure we are not all working on the same list or suggestion eeh.

I'll take a look at the suggestion lists and would it be easy if we add a list here by time and province perhaps, so everyone can pick a few (or just one for starters) specific list and work on that ?

Bea,

I took a look at the suggestion list and because this is something else than a source-a thon, I don't think we have to split it into provinces or anything else. At this moment there are 1580 suggestions on the DR profiles and 908 from them are 511 suggestions which we can almost all mark as False, because our Dutch names are not recognized.

Then we have 136 suggestions on 851 errors (Gedcom uncleaned interpret date), that would take much more time due to the fact that correct sourcing is required. I would skip those first.

The third in place is another easy one 107 suggestions on a parameter template error. Very easy to fix. I think we can take that one to. So that's already over 1.000 suggestions that would not take any thinking, just correcting.

If we take the Netherlands list, then on a total of 14.657 suggestions, there are 5.708 suggestions on the 511 part. So only concentrating on the 511 suggestions would clean a total of 6,616 suggestions, for which no thinking needs to be done.
Sounds like a great idea to me Margreet, we could split them up a bit perhaps though and maybe by province or a specific period, just to prevent everyone is working on the same list ?
The other easy group on the Netherlands list are the ref errors. There are far fewer, but these actually have an impact on the display, hiding references. Some the other biography errors probably also fast to fix:

821 Headings starts with blank -- 8
822 Heading doesn't end with = -- 13
823 Heading doesn't start with = -- 57
824 Heading different number of = -- 32
841 Template doesn't start with double { -- 34
842 Template doesn't end with double } -- 3
848 Error in template parameters -- 168
861 Inline citation doesn't start with <ref> -- 35
862 Inline citation doesn't end with </ref> -- 155
863 Missing <references /> tag -- 326

(in addition to 511 Unique names (spelling) -- 5708)

I think the existing error reports are sorted by date or name,  with a new heading every 20 lines.  Dividing based on error, century,  and then by subsets of 100 (i.e. 5 headings)  should work. (For example, you could say "I am working on the Netherlands 511 errors, 1800-1899, Aafka Emma Hilarides (De Hahn) to Anriaantje Jannetje van Hilten (van Walbeek)"

It might make sense to make an answer for each of the errors we are focusing on, then when the challenge stars we can comment with what exactly we are working on
Sounds great W. So first concentrate on own suggestions, than DR 8xx and 511 and after that the Netherlands 511 suggestions. And Bea where do we register the things we are working on?

I think by adding an (or several for each suggestion one) answer in this G2G, so as W suggested ?

...we can make an answer for each of the errors we are focusing on, then when the challenge starts we can comment with what exactly we are working on....

Of course we will work with the challenge tracker during the Clean-a-Thon, but if members would like to work on one of the specific errors, they can add a comment to the error they are starting with and wher they are going to start (which profile-time frame) ? (each error then will have it's own answer and thread of comments)

Hi Team !

Here are a few links with Suggestions for all Dutch (open) profiles these are the total amounts, from these you can pick for example a specific time frame and add a comment here, to let us know which error and from which time you are going to work on. (to prevent we all perhaps are working on the same thing at the same time)

Warnings in WikiTree: 511 Unique names (spelling) (total 5656)

Warnings in WikiTree: 811 Uncleaned profile after merge (total 1273)

Hi Team,

Hi Bea,

Except for the first two (Warnings in WikiTree: etc.) the links all point to a help page, not to a list of errors.
Thanks for catching that Jan, not sure how that happened, will place new ones :P
Best strategy is to fix the easiest errors first to score!!!

I will not be much around at Saturday during the day. So feel free to work on what I plan to do. :D

I will do in reverse order, working back to the top, so I see fast  what is not done yet/is left at 723 and 721 first.

To all of you already now, wishing you a lot of fun and GOOD LUCK!!

A.
LOL checking out error Prefix in first name lol! The first I click is a complete mess at the whole family and only gedcom info!!! hahahaha

Again good luck all! :D

Going to clean up 811 Uncleaned profile after merge  (total 1273)

And also the earliest group Warnings in WikiTree: 511 Unique names (spelling)...falling from one thing into the other here so not easy to say exactly what suggestion I'm working on  :P

Spring Clean a Thon begint EDT 12:01 EDT (GMT -4), April 21 en eindigt maandag middernacht EDT, April 23.

Oeps,

Ik schrijf dit om 23:29 en nu is de EDT 17:29, dus 6 uur verschil.

Dus iedereen kan een uurtje langer "uitslapen".

En tot dinsdag 06:00 doorgaan.

Hahaha wordt nog een dingetje! Maar ik ben altijd voor uitslapen! En jij Jan altijd accurater dan ik maar.................... :D

Maar ik zie DIT

Time in EDT vs CET

Central European Time (CET) is 5:00 hours ahead Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

24 hours

Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) 5:46 PM  Friday, April 20, 2018

= Central European Time (CET) 10:46 PM

Mogelijk verschil met en of zonder zomertijd? Vlgs Clean a Thon Page EDT is GMT-4...........

A.

Hahah Jij dus gelijk! Uitslapen maar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zie nu dat CET niet klopt.
Tijden ^ boven aangepast hoor! Dank Jan. Foute website dus.

Dank lieve Jan!

Daarna 863 suggesties

Good morning, afternoon, night or whatever time it is in your part of the world. ;)

I see some of you have been pretty active already, that's really great, and bummers of all days, now I have some internet trouble so I sure hope after a restart things will improve !

Let's have some fun and loads of errors corrected this weekend!

Good luck everyone and the weather here in the Netherlands is great, tropical temperatures and play this loud, just found our Flying DutchmenTeam song ! :D (and the same with lyrics so we all can sing it together :P)

Good morning from UTC-5. I will start on the 848s for 1800-1899 and 1900-1999

I am working on 851 GEDCOM uncleaned Interpret date - 1800-1899 (working on and off with house cleaning :-))

Cleaning is inspiring eeh :P
Got them done just as guests began to arrive. Guess that's it for me today!
Well so far so good eeh, a lot's cleaned up thanks a lot W and have a wonderful day or evening !

I'm currently working on 511 Unique names (spelling) for 1800-1899 starting at the end of the alphabet, and finding lots of unsourced profiles along the way.
by Alexandra Carter G2G6 (7.6k points)
Wonderful Alexandra!!
Ditto here and adding {{Unsourced|Netherlands}} templates or project templates (when the project is co manager) or stickers or categories as well to a lot :) Keep up the great work !
Do we have a link to see results? :D

Found it!! Here!

As I had not much time today I hope to do lots tomorrow!!

Wonderful all! We rock!!

I am going to do a few before bed - same error, same time range. I started at the top of the Netherlands errors. I don't think I will get the first 20 done tonight (but will finish them tomorrow).

Continuing on... these are much slower than had hoped since so many lack sources. Not going for speed here. I will definitely not be getting through all the A's before the end of tomorrow!

Hi All,

Did some cleaning on my own suggestion list (and my nephew Philip's list) and thought to look at the chat of 0:00 Amsterdam time, but got the time wrong. Who's watching in two hours?

Today the weather was too nice to keep me indoors :) so I hope to get more done on Sunday.
by B. W. J. Molier G2G6 Mach 9 (90.9k points)

Not sure if I can keep my eyes open, but when I'm still awake will watch it for us :) And tomorrow they said the it would get even warmer Summertime when the weather is hot :P

And here to keep you all going Let's clean up the Getto and Greatest Hits Of The 60's - Best Of 60s Songs  of if you love Motown here are some of the Greatest Hits

Trying hard to stay awake :P

I love the picture....now do you have anything that works on colds?

Stupid weather over here.  Its supposed to be spring so when is the temperature going over 0 degrees C and stay there?

I heard from relatives it's still sort of 'Winter' in Canada ? Happy we had a few days of the tropical weather, but colds here as well with all the changes, ..we just had our first load of rain and thunder. And for colds ... this music should work on colds they say Healing music  (Sinus Head Cold & Flu Relief | Binaural Beat 10hz Alpha | Cellular Resurrection)

So hope it helps :D  If it doesn't perhaps this is more fun ;) (just imagine, we all over the world are doing the same thing right now :D

Houston I think I have a problem!!!

I do not have the choice of choosing Clean a Thon at the challenge tracker!!

Your WikiTreeID:

Select the challenges you participate in:

Saturday Sourcing Sprint (20 apr-22 apr) Scores

Connectors Challenge (15 apr-15 maj) Scores

Quakers Challenge (1 apr-1 maj) Scores

Sourcerers Challenge (1 apr-1 maj) Scores

Optionally, include a comment:

Add Action

Grrrrrrrr!!!

by Astrid Spaargaren G2G6 Pilot (284k points)
You don't have to chose a challenge with the tracker, you can just work with the direct suggestion links and only have to update the status (add action) and it will count  It's why all members had to register, now it's clear you are correcting or adding the action to update a status of a suggestion for the Clean-a-Thon ;) (it all and automatically counts for the clean a thon)

Goooooooddddd morning, all 861 and 863 suggestions are done. in the 862 are several people already cleaning so I will find another area to focus on.

Wat nou?!?!?!

It seems that you are correcting suggestions for too long. Take a short break and stretch your legs. Then you can continue to work.

by B. W. J. Molier G2G6 Mach 9 (90.9k points)
Whaaat ?? Serious ?? did you get a warning sign telling you this ??
Yep, Ales thinks I'm too fast:)
Whahahaha I think you are the first or perhaps it's a new thing to make sure people are going to bed :P
Hahaha B.W.J!

lol I have got that several times.

It's nice to think it refers to you but it seems it is a system thing. ;-)

I am not sure but I think Ales' program puts that message out when the system is overloaded and needs time to catch up.
Aha! That explains a lot :) Thanks!

Well, I just discovered a file with several mistakes in the dates listed in Dutch Roots templates and corrected all of them.  There are 5 lists left.  4 of them deal with mothers and fathers either being too young when their children were born or dead before their children were born.

In many cases, the death date of the parent seems to be a guess based on their marriage date; I suppose I (or someone else) could sort through those and change the guess to a year after the child was born (I've learned from experience years with no months or days on both parent and child templates are marked as errors).  My question is, is this a good idea?

The fifth list is over 800 more unique spellings.  I suppose I could chip away at that list.  Otherwise, I'm left with a list of American ancestors and their siblings dated to the mid 1600's...
by Bertram Sluys G2G6 Mach 3 (37.9k points)
That's great Bertram and feel free to work on those lists and correct or adjust those dates t a year or so later, if these dates were guessed, if mother clearly died during or short after a child was born, of course these dates can be marked as false error and hidden forever. :)
I'm now going down one of the lists.  An awful lot of mothers, it seems, died 20 - 50 years before their children were born, and would have been over 100 at that time.  I'm not correcting those.  Something tells me we have a few other errors to fix instead....

Hey Margreet!

We hebben ze ingehaald! Voor zo lang het duurt:) Lekker bezig!
by B. W. J. Molier G2G6 Mach 9 (90.9k points)
(Hij zal me zien aankomen )

WOW Bertram is leading today in correcting errors!! B.W.J and Margreet are following!

As you are all working so hard and doing so well please do not forget to hit at the team page "see your work" and be proud!!

The number doesn t say much. There are "suggestions" that takes 1 minute and some will take half an hour. Main thing is we clean up a bunch!!! together!

Only trying to keep the spirit up!!

Pitty the weather was this great this weekend...........

We zijn er bijna!! :D en houd er de moed maar in!!!! (We are almost there :D and keep spirits up!!)

You re all fantastic!!

I am working on some are done there but easy scoring.

To make it easier: if you find a not corrected profile with an error in references. Go to the edit page of the profile and click the keys Ctrl and the f key together. At the right top you see a search window opening. Type in it <ref> and it will color the <ref>'s at the page so you can easily search if there is a </ref> missing.

Go! Go! Go Team!!

I think this challenge as pretty tuff! But drinks are on the house today!! :D

Keep smiling!

Only 6 suggestions to be equall with nr. 11 the...............

Merry Moppers!!!!!!

by Astrid Spaargaren G2G6 Pilot (284k points)
I am glad  you all are skimming off the obvious 511 errors. The names aren't obvious to me -- and many (Netherlands, not specifically Dutch Roots) lack any sources about the name (and even when a source is there it lacks enough enough info to indicate the name used so I still need to look them up). These means I did well on sourcing but not so well on fixing errors this weekend. I was hoping someone would go through the 1800-1899 511 errors to skim off the obvious false errors. (I claimed them early on but actually have been working on the Netherlands instead so I don't know if anyone has done this group yet)
All right, an appointment canceled and I saw W. Robertson's notice above.  I'll take a few more minutes to do 511 errors - and see if I can come back later tonight for a few more minutes.
Yay Margreet!  You beat me - as of 2 minutes ago by 80 suggestions!  Congratulations!
I know... But I'm sure you will beat me, because for me it's time to sleep... Maybe early tomorrow morning I still have some time..... We will see, but it's  a good competition and I  enjoy it. At least we play it fair :-)
A Wrap-up??????????? Till  midnight our time??? 50 mins to go!
If any of you are awake... Could you look at De_Boer-473. I don't know if the name is correct or not. Thanks!
I am. Doing now W. !
W. You did great. Using patronymics are fading after 1811 as having a LNAB is obligated. At some towns it takes years to make it faint. I think especially as there are too many with the same FNAB and LNAB, all family of the same great-(great-)parents named after them. So they still need patronymics.

Now the profile manager made a  mistake. She was according to her contributions active for the last time dec. 2017. But we need to ask her to change the last name at birth if we have a good source and the profile has. :)

No worries W. as ever you know what and how to do. :) Thank you so much again for what you do at WT.

Very sweet regards again as ever.

A.
Thanks, Astrid. Getting you to look at this was just a ploy so I can try to pass your count before I call it quits tonight. ;-)
We re still about 160 suggestions in front of them now......... I just hope we can stay that next hours and end at the top ten as that would be really great!!

Bed time for me now.

Thank you so much for all you do (and did).

As ever your fan.

A.
