Can someone help me split a large GEDCOM file?

I've got a 37MB GEDCOM file (50K+ people).   I want to generate a subset GEDCOM file with just my partner's part of the tree (only 317 people).

I've tried FTM3 (crashes on export), GRAMPS (dies trying to load in the large GEDCOM file).  I don't trust that weird website that offers to split a file, and I'm using Mac not Windows which essentially eliminates every other piece of software out there.   I don't have the budget to pay for more software that might not work.

If anyone DOES have any working software that might be willing to help me out I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Go to http://www.llenrup.com/splitter and upload the file there. You aren't downloading anything so there isn't anything to trust. It was also created by someone here at WikiTree.

While your answer is re-assuring, I'm not sure it's accurate.

In fact the resulting split GED(s) is downloaded from llenrup.com; and so it is being uploaded to them first. So, the original poster is not crazy to "not trust" the website.

Personally I would neither want to upload all my work to a third party, or download the resulting files from a third-party website IF there were a simpler way to do it locally, on my own computer.

Tangent: over the last couple years, I have been using Gigatrees for some GED analysis, and it is very powerful. But also very difficult to configure and use, and I cannot recommend it to normal people. You need to be a computer nerd (which I used to be) of some type, to make it work for you without brain damage; it was built by super-talented programmer-genealogist, for himself, and similarly eager souls.
