How can I find my Ancestry?

I have been searching for (14) fourteen years trying to find my Williams surname ancestry. I have failed even with the professional genealogist from Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been unable to find anything before my (4) four Times Great Grandfather William Micajah Williams born about 1740 in either Wales or Brittons Neck, Marion Dist., Liberty, SC and died 1802 in the same location. I did all these FTDNA Test Y-DNA111 8/15/2013 Family Finder 5/26/2010 mtFull Sequence 10/29/2009 Y-DNA67 7/11/2009 Deep Clade-R 11/1/2008 Y-HAP-Backbone 11/6/2005, DNAPlus 11/10/2004 Kit 11/10/2004 mtDNA Plus 11/10/2004 Y-DNA37 11/10/2004

Then I did the FTDNA Big-Y Test sending the raw data to Y-Full in Russia. Both FTDNA and Y-Full indicate I am a Davis or Davies. What can I do now if anything? It seems someone changed their name.

Hello, I have been going through my family history and Have noticed the farther I go back in the family name that they seemed to make the middle name a family members name.Example,Patrick McAvera Fitzpatrick. McAvera being his Mothers Maiden Name.Plus Find My Past Has Lots of William Williams on their Site for the date you mentioned.

Hope this can help.
