Convert Gedcom Fields to Match WikiTree

Question

Hi,

I am using TNG and tried uploading my GEDCOM files. But I added a lot of custom tags and misused the name fields for various data. So creating profiles from this is semi-optimal ;)

Is there any software that I can use to convert my GEDCOM files so it matches better what WikiTree expects?

Or is there a plan for integrating something like this into WikiTree?

If not, I am currently downloading Eclipse *g*

Jan, wikitree has a limited number of fields.  I don't see how you could program your gedcom for data fields that wikitree doesn't have.

Additional fields are supposed to get dumped into the wikitree narrative.  But it could be that wikitree isn't recognizing some of those custom fields you've set up and therefore skipping them even for dumping into the narrative.

Somewhere Chris W has a list of recognized fields.

LifeLines can do anything if you are a programmer. It imports GEDCOM, stores it in a database, and has a scripting language of its own which is designed to produce reports, i.e. text files, which subsumes GEDCOM. It is nicer on *nix than on WIndows, which may put off some people.
