Hey, everyone!!! How is it going so far?

Are any of you planning to be here for the first 4 hours?
I'll be here for the first hour or so, but I think my husband might yell at me if I stay all the way up until 4! :)

Here is a link to the Ohio errors.  http://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=err3&Location=Ohio+&MaxErrors=1000&ErrorID=721

Then on the left-hand side, select the drop-down box and select any error that you would like to work on.

Here is a small list of errors that I know have some in them...

103, 104, 205, 206, 210, 305, 310, 404, 405, 406, 416, 113, 211, 213, 308, 313, 408, 409, 418, 511, and 721.  I will add more throughout the weekend!!! Let's have fun!!!

Good morning team!!!  I'll be around for a little while.

Remember to update the suggestion status of any that you work on, if necessary.

I'm currently working on the "802 Empty profile" suggestions.

802 Empty profiles are complete for open profiles on our list.

Good morning, Tim. I worked on the 103 and 104 suggestions last night, without much success. Quick question, if you don't find any sources can you still estimate the years of birth or death, to remove the suggestion.  For example, a person was born in 1687 and died in 1799, but there are no sources by the person, and I couldn't find anything...or do you leave the suggestion until there is some kind of proof of something, but we know they couldn't have been 112 years old, so one or both of the dates are completely wrong.
If there are no sources in the profile you can add the "{{Unsourced}}" tag to the profile and mark the suggestion as "Not Corrected" and add a note along the lines of "added unsourced template".

Don't forget to enter something into the "Explain your changes" box. This helps the profile manager(s) see what changes were made on a quick glance. Otherwise they need to look through the changes tab.

The description can be something quick and easy like "fixed formatting", "added source", "added unsourced template", etc.

Hello everyone!

Hopefully everyone had a good time, learned some things, and corrected some profiles.

I'm done for the rest of the day. Looks like we've done a good amount as a group.

Thanks for being our captain, Carla!

Tim,

No, thank you for all of your help. I find myself learning more if I just jump in there and take charge (even though I really didn't). I have learned a lot about how wikitree works, but at the same time, it has added lots of questions. Is the point of the clean-a-thon just to correct errors to get them off the list, or is it supposed to be researched to really "clear" the list? I looked for birth dates, death dates, and sources to add to the profiles. Sometimes I found other children or parents and added them as well, as I found information and didn't want to waste it...

I know that Louis didn't credit for any of her corrections on our team!! She had over 300 corrections, and I wasn't able to get credit for all of the ones that I did with a different profile number... All in all, for such a small group, I think that we did big things. I thank all of you for participating.

Tim, I want to thank you for all of your help with getting the group started, it seemed like most people already knew what team they wanted to be on when signing up, but again... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Take care everyone, happy searching, and I hope to see you all around wikitree!!

Thanks,

Carla
Some look at the challenges, the clean-a-thon, and the source-a-thon as a contest to gather the most "points". I look at them as a way to discover about WikiTree, get a better understanding about something, and to make the overall tree better. It sounds like you took the spirit of the challenge correctly.  :)

Our team is/was relatively new in comparison to many of the other teams. Many of them stick together year round for the monthly challenges and the source-a-thon too.  The fact that we accomplished as much as we did is a testament to the quality of the people on the team. 6 of us completing almost 1900 corrections is awesome!!

If you enjoyed doing this for the clean-a-thon, and would like to do this regularly...without the fanfare...I encourage you to take a look at joining the Data Doctor project.
