Anything reported as a fact should have a source listed. If it does not have a source, I don't trust it; if it lists a source that is meaningless such as an unsourced internet familytree, I don't trust it; if it lists a source behind a paywall or a book not available on the web and I really want to know, I check in a library or ask for help in G2G for checking behind the paywall.

of course, various sources can also be incorrect (and for various reasons). so its probably best to have more than one source for corroborating facts, if available.
