Oliphant family, West and Stout

Question

I am following the line for my mom, West, I go all the way up to Thomas West born 1740 married Rachel Oliphant whom parents were Sarah Stout and Ephraim Oliphant.  I was having trouble with going up further in regards to Thomas West, people have his parents as Joseph West and Jane Owen, I don't believe that to be true since his marriage certificate indicated he was born in England.

any way, I just wanted to touch base and see if I am on the right track

I have him born in Westminster England, February 1, 1740, I also have his death as January 1796 in Grainger Tennessee.  I don't believe I am related to the artist Benjamin West the Painter, I have his children with Rachel Oliphant as Edward, Samuel, Rachel, Rebecca and Jerusha, going further down I confirmed that Samuel West is my 4th great grandfather via DNA that I am in a DNA circle with other people.

No one seems to know for certain the parents, I found baptism records that seem to match up, I am curious as to how he met Rachel in NJ?, I was doubting somethings since the Joseph and Jane Owen seemed to be from PA, but every time I search them and chidren, Thomas is never listed, any ideas would be appreciated, I am looking also to links that were recommended to me.

This source may be a help which gived biographical info on John born in Cheshire England of Quakers parents..  Info under Benjamin West's Ancestry  Note that John came from England without his first wife who died having a son named Thomas. toward the end.

I noted in one answer they have Thomas as born in England to John and Sarah.  In the bio from above he married Sarah Pearson in PA and the son Thomas born in England to first wife who did not come to America and died giving birth to the child.

Benjamin West the artist is for sure not a relative to me, Thomas West married Rachel Oliphant in 1763 in Kingswood, NJ.  I have seen and also tracked he people from the links but they don't match up with siblings I have that are on my mothers side, I am new at Wiki Tree and I am truly trying for sure to compare the West Family.
