Two French family member profiles

appear to be the same person.  [[French-1832]] and [[French-1833]].  I had submitted them as duplicates to be merged sometime back. The manager rejected the merge, for what reason I do not know.  The parents and siblings are the same.  The only difference is in the birthdate, and that by 2 years, one has the month, day and year, the other only a year.  I removed the rejected merge and re-submitted.  What to do when this happens?  Thanks!

There death dates are remarkably different !  I would be wary of this merge without further research.

You could post the source of your death date and birth date right in the public bulletin board of the profile to show the profile manager the validity of your information which may help them change their mind.

If no response after a couple weeks, scroll to bottom of the profile, click UNRESPONSIVE PROFILE MANAGER and fill out the form about the problem.

The sources don't seem very reliable, but this looks like a case of two different individuals who have been muddled. It isn't unusual for the name of a child who died early (1 year) to be reused for a later child. I have several in my own tree.

The confusion appears to be in the use of Lieutenant in the source for the -1832. The only real answer is to find baptism records.

Martin may be right as well. I reconsidered my answer. There may be a muddled merge already. More sources needed.
You are right,  I focused so hard on the birthdate didn't even register in my brain what the death date was. :(  My bad.  Thank you for pointing that out. :)
Thanks Martin, you may be right! :)
Thank you so much for your help Maggie!  I appreciate it. :)

Betty,

The merges have been rejected because they are two different profiles. Feel free to ask on the page if you have questions. The source isn't much but for now is all that is given and should be respected unless something else comes up.

Thanks!

Thanks Abby, I appreciate it!  Trying to clean up files I adopted.  Taking a while. :(  I am concerned tho, because the siblings appear to be the same, even to marrying spouses with the same last names.  The death date is clearly different, which I had not even noticed I was so intent upon the birth date. :(  Will keep checking.
Right there with you, Betty. Plenty to do on those old profiles!
:)  Fun stuff, eh? LOL

The two Samuels were brothers - the first lived only about one year and the second Samuel was born the following year
