According to family lore, Squire TURNER (1793-1871) was named for Squire Boone, Jr., who performed his parents' wedding ceremony. 'Trading Tom' TURNER (1765-1847) married first wife Katherine PATTERSON (1764-1813) in 1784.

Squire Boone was a baptist minister. He is said to have performed the first marriage in Kentucky. It is quite likely he performed ceremonies when the family lived in NC. He married Jane Van Cleave. His father was Squire and Sarah.

I've ran accros a book that may help: Historical Collections Relating to Gwynedd: A Township of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Settled 1698 by Welsh Immigrants" by Howard M. Jenkins reprint 2009

Squire Boone and Sarah Morgan want to marry and make that obvious to the Quaker community, a declaration of intent, on pg 116

As for performing marriges; that I don't know.

Ancestry.com. Historical collections relating to Gwynedd : a township of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, settled, 1698, by immigrants from W [database on-line]. Provo, UT: The Generations Network, Inc., 2005. Original data: Jenkins, Howard Malcolm,. Historical collections relating to Gwynedd : a township of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, settled, 1698, by immigrants from Wales, with some data referring to the adjoining township of Montgomery, also settled by Welsh. Philadelphia: Jenkins, 1897.

Squire Boone absolutely *DID* perform marriage ceremonies in North Carolina.

Squire Boone was an Elder (minister) of the Church of the Brethren, also known as "Dunker Baptists". He and his family became Dunkers after being thrown out of the Quaker community.

There is an entire chapter (Chapter XII, actually) on the Boones and their connection with the German Dunkers in this on-line book, "Two centuries of Brothersvalley Church of the Brethren, 1762-1962".  Much of this has been left out of the Wikipedia Boone profiles, but would be worthwhile to be included.
