Who is the father of Joseph A Parker born 1774 in VA. and founder of Parkertown GA.

Question

I have been trying to identify the father of Joseph A Parker born 1774 in Virginia and founder of Parkertown, GA. I have determined that Joseph would be GGG grandfather. All indications tell me his father's name was Daniel but not sure which one. There is the famous Daniel which is on Wikipedia founder of the Primitive Baptist Church and there are a couple other Daniels from around the same time period. Thanks for your help!

My GGG grandfather was also Joseph A. Parker born 1774 in Virginia and founder of Parkertown Georgia (now Hart County). I was wondering if there was any more information you could share with me. I am also looking to confirm who Joseph's father was and take it as far back as I can go. I have some ideas but I can't be certain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have just started working on Joseph A. Parker as part of a group of Parkers who were early settlers in Elbert County.  

I believe that his Father is a Daniel Parker born 1756.  This Daniel is the uncle of the Daniel who gained fame in the Baptist Church as "Two Seed" Daniel.  The younger Daniel was also a political leader in Texas. Daniel 1756 had a brother John(father of preacher Daniel) who was a religious leader himself and a victim of the Fort Parker Massacre in Texas.  This was the basis of the Movie "The Searchers", and John's grandson was the Comanche chief Quanah.

So I encourage you to work on this connection, it is quite a tribe!

Well, it looks like his father-in-law was in the Revo War: http://services.dar.org/public/dar_research/search_adb/?action=full&p_id=A094094 but I didn't find anything about his father.  Sorry.

You might look for his father in the Biography Encyclopedia of Virginia in four volumes.  Very comprehensive.  Published in 1915 and available for download at <http://books.google.com>.

There is a large staffed genealogical resource library in the Bull St (Main) branch of the Live Oak Public Library system located in Savannah, Ga. 912/ 652-3697.
