I will check and see if I have any more information on this family.
I've been doing on-line research this afternoon, so I have been to many web sites, including Ancestry.com and familysearch.org.
While I don't have proof of this information, this is what my information looks like at this point in time.
James Duke Moore, son of Zachariah Moore and Alice Elsie Bourne, was born on Mar 15, 1802 and christened on Oct 16, 1803 in Harmony, Woodford, Kentucky.
On April 4 1821, he married Catherine Ward, the daugher of William Ward and Catherine Fraser. Catherine Ward was born in Jan 31 1802 in Bedford C., Bedford, PA.
This list of their children comes from Ancestry.com.
1. Mary Jane Moore, 1822-1823.
2. Zachariah Moore, 1825-? (It was the custom to name the first son after his grandfather.)
3. Joseph Ward Moore, 1826-1859.
4. Eliza Jane Moore, 1829-?
5. Sarah Y, born April 19, 1833 in MO
6. William W, 1835
7. James Duke Moore, Jr., 1839-1905
8. Henry C., Feb 17, 1843, St Charles Co., MO
Catherine Ward Moore died on August 1, 1892 in St. Charles Co., MO. James Duke Moore died on May 19, 1896 and is buried in Old Dardenne Cemetery in St. Charles Co., MO.
The 1860 US Census lists a Zachariah B Moore living in the 5th Ward of the City of St. Louis. His household includes Margaret, age 32 (his wife), Josephene C Moore, age 4 (their daughter), plus two young women from Germany, Margaret Horseman, age 15 and Lizzie Hurst, age 17. There is also an older woman, Margaret Balridge, age 75 from Kentucky. (Could she be the mother or aunt of Margaret?) Plus 17 year old Henry C Moore. If Henry was born in 1843, he would have been 17 in 1860.
After this point, it gets more confusing. The 1900 US Census lists two men named Henry C Moore living in MO, neither one with the correct birthdate. And I'm not sure if either of them are the Henry C Moore we are looking for.
I think this profile needs some more work. I think Henry is with his brother in St. Louis by 1860. Would he have been counted twice? Once with his parents and again with his brother?
We will need to continue working on this one.
