I wasn't sure if a connection to Abraham Lincoln had already been found, but I found one, so thought I'd post it:

Abraham Lincoln -> his father, Thomas Lincoln -> his father, Abraham Lincoln -> his father, John Lincoln -> his father, Mordecai Lincoln -> his father, Mordecai Lincoln -> his father, Samuel Lincoln -> his mother, Bridget Gilman -> her father, Edward Gilman -> his brother, Robert Gilman -> his daughter, Mary Gilman -> her daughter, Hannah Jacob -> her daughter, Deborah Loring -> her son, Elijah Cushing -> his wife, Elizabeth Barstow -> her father, Joseph Barstow -> his father, Joseph Barstow -> his sister, Sarah Barstow -> her husband, Nathaniel Church -> his brother, Benjamin Church -> his daughter, Elizabeth Church -> her daughter, Hannah Rosbotham -> her son, Nathan Munro -> his daughter, Lydia Munro -> her son, Squire Humphrey -> his daughter, Sarah Humphrey -> her son, William Crowley -> his daughter, Nellie Crowley -> her husband, Edward Kuntz -> his sister, Emma Kuntz -> her daughter, Georgia Ferrell -> her husband, Irwin Hirsch -> his mother, Harriet Friedenheit -> her sister, Sophie Friedenheit -> her daughter, Gertrude Kingsbacher (A.J.'s great grandmother).

So by this line, Abraham Lincoln is 37 steps away from A.J.!

Awesome! Tweeting :)
I just discovered my own Honest Abe connection last week, and I got there through because I was trying to fill in the blanks in my Cushing lines (another name you see in this set of links).  All of these families are interrelated.
I've been working on my own family for several years but I'm a real WikiTree newbie.  I'm almost embarrased to ask but what is this Global Reunion?  It seems like fairly common knowledge for most people.

Many people do not know what the Global R. is, Judy-no bad questions here :) First, this is the project page- http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Global_Family_Reunion

The project was initiated in response to AJ Jacobs' announcement that he was holding a massive, record-breaking "Family Reunion" next June, inviting everyone on the planet, and in the meantime working with a variety of online crowd-sourced genealogy sites to trace as many lines connecting to himself as he can in order to prove we are all related. This was not a vain attempt to show people how they are related to famous folks, but to show the world how very connected we all are.

This same idea-one world tree that connects us all-also happens to be the driving force behind WikiTree, so we jumped on board, putting together project and offering our aid to AJ to help him trace and connect as many folks as possible. The thing is, any person could have been the starting point. AJ was just the person to take the plunge and has served as a center starting point from which to work out.

This has been huge for WikiTree because it has been showing the greater genealogy world what corwd-sourced genealogy can do when quality volunteers work together with reasonable guidelines. Great profiles that are well-sourced connecting person after person to each other. It has been great for the health of WikiTree, making connections between families that hadn't been there before, and making things like merging easier as profiles that may have been sitting idle for some time from a gedcom that got uploaded and left are now getting sourced by the fantastic members of the project in order to make sure *every* connection the group makes is a correct one .

Thanks for asking!
