My grandparents were Charles Kelsey and Estella Pauline Wheeler. What has been handed down is that he was about 5 years older than her. She was born in 1922. They met when she worked at the USO and he was a soldier. We do not know which location of the USO they met at.
They fell in love and got married and moved back to the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. We know she had her family there but are not sure where he was from or where his family was. They had to have been married between about 1940 and 1943 as they were married before their oldest was born and she was born in 1943. They then had two sons about 2 years apart. Some time between 1947 (when the youngest was born) and 1949ish, He left them and of course they were divorced.
Estella went on to have more children with her second husband but we have no idea where or who Charles was before he met her or after he left her and the 3 children.
