Has anyone know about the Peters or Keaton Families buried money in Germany during WWI ?

My Great Grandmother Mary Arizona Bowles Keaton was planning on going to Germany to receive a inheritance from her family. WWI started and she could not travel overseas. The money was suppose to be a million dollars. I'am not sure about the amount she would get. The money was buried to hide it from the Germans and lost. I have met another Keaton not related who had heard the same story. Our family names would have been Tinney or Peters in Germany.

The money was lost during World War I? The problem is that even if you were to somehow find out what happened to the money, you would have to demonstrate a legal claim in the modern German legal system to something that hasn't been in your family for over 100 years.
I don't know about you, but I personally wouldn't be willing to risk the money in legal fees that would be required to even make an attempt at that money.

Hi, yes, we are Peters familyliving in South Africa, and we had the same story about family fortune hidden in a forest just before the outbreak of the war. Our Peters family came from Jena, Germany
