Should rejection of a proposed merge require a comment?

Occasionally I find profiles that appear to be duplicates, at least according to my sources, but they have been previously proposed for merges and then rejected. It would be helpful to be able to access easily an explanation for the rejection without having to post comments or email the managers and wait and wait and wait for an answer. Maybe there should be a requirement to explain a rejection when it is porposed by a human with a comment, source citation etc.

Hi Helmut,

This is a change we made fairly recently. It should now be required.

But, it's only required if there was a proposed merge. If you're rejecting a match from FindMatches or elsewhere, you don't need to explain it. You only need to explain it if someone thought they were duplicates.

Great! That was precisely what I was thinking of!
