Glad you were specific on the profile.  William Pinkney is probably one of the most popular names for male children in the south for many, many years!  Mags

I was in the Crawford pages.  I believe William Pinkney CRAWFORD is my GGGF. Believe  his father was Joel Crawford, son of Joel Crawford who also was father to William Harris Crawford.   But I need to find his children's names (I have all their names from family bible but no records to link them back to WPC).  WPC fought in the Ciil War - was killed in Ocean Pond battle in FL toward end of hte war.  Promoted to rank of Major from Capt.  His unit was the 28th Infantry Volunteers from GA and his unit called "Crawford's Rangers" - he was promoted from Capt to Maj. apparently afer his death.

I have been searching for this relative for over 2 years - didn't even have a given name, just Crawford so I'm very excited I have got this far.  Cecelia Cook
