Does anyone have information on parentage of John Wesley Collins?

He was born in Baltimore, MD around 1815 and died in 1901. He married three times. He married my great-grandmother Sarah J. Buchanan, his second wife, in Perry County, PA in 1859. She died in 1871. His father Charles (born circa 1786) married Elizabeth Chisley of Baltimore in 1806. They had two children John W. and Stephen who were both apprenticed out of state sometime after the death of their father in 1817.

That is the problem isn't it? I'm relatively new at this, and many leads go nowhere. I got this information from a family on ancestry.com and it did match much of the oral family history I know. I will continue to try to verify all this.The census doesn't help, it lists his birthplace as what looks like Switzerland and some people have repeated that mistake. They were Scots-Irish or English according to my grandmother. If you come across anything I'm always happy for the help.
