Odd replacement of parent when adding a sibling

Question

I was adding a sibling and during the search for multiples I did find one.  At the bottom where it says click if this profile matched, I did and it did add it but it removed one mother and replaced it with another wife.  I do believe that it is the correct mother now but I am not the manager for the changed profile and I am not on the trusted list.  Is this a bug, or  did I do something stupid?   I might add that the former mother was probably not even married to the father but was his mother.

Jeff,

The sibling you found already with a profile, probably had an existing mother that was different from the mother you already had for Albert. The system had to do something about that, and made a choice. Don't know its algorithm for making such a choice.

In any case, find and cite the source for the correct mother, and fix it. The profile for Albert, his wife and his parents are wide open; you do not need to be on the Trusted List to edit it.  That said, you should post a message on the profile saying what happened and how you're trying to fix it.

Thanks Jillaine, didn't know about the choice option, profiles now corrected and sourced and thanks to Kathleen I didn't need to do a lot of digging to see if her possibilty might have been correct.

No choice *option* on this one, just saying that the system, when encountering two different parents when a sibling is brought in, must have to make some sort of choice behind the tech scenes. Don't know how it works, though.

I am not sure what happened.  I have not been on the site in a long time.  Have been busy with the great summer weather we are having and a bunch of family stuff.  I do know for a fact that George Bennett Goodwin was married to Lousia Henrietta Minter.  They were the parents of Albert Fall Goodwin.  I do not know what happened as I was entering the information.  I remember that I was having some diffuculty when adding all the the siblings.  Thanks for the info and the correction.  I do not know how to put you on the trusted list.
