Family Reunion Package Idea

Many, many family reunions happen every year (we all have a big one to go to in 2015).  Wouldn't it be nice to have a Wikitree created Power Point (or similar) Presentaion to take with you to show to all your cousins?

The presentaion would include:

*  Information
*  Images and data auto-populated by WikiTree.  This would be something similar to the GEDCOM export where you chose the ancestor to start with and the  # of Generations, etc.
*  Spiffy Slides with WikiTree branding

So what do you think?
What kinds of things could be included?
Can the WikiTechers work this up?  SO MANY QUESTIONS!

How cool would this be (the best question/statment of all)!?

Neat idea, Mags!

One thing Paul Bech has worked on, somewhat related, is creating multimedia materials that WikiTreers can customize for presentations at genealogical societies, libraries, etc.
As I am going to one of these (a national reunion) this weekend, I've been trying to figure out how to get as much information as possible as well as promote participation on WikiTree. Those interested enough to travel to a reunion like this obviously have an interest in connecting and their family history.

I WISH I HAD A BANNER to hang up.  I am taking a "sign in book" to garner as much info as I can, but what else?  Chris, do we have any resources that I could borrow?  Something professional that perhaps you used at another convention or such?  DO we have a link to Paul's material?

This is a great idea Mags!
Nae, just fly me down (take me away from here for a bit) and I will be you spiffy presentation!  LOL

Message Paul Bech, He has some nice WikiTree branded stuff you could print - just for this kind of thing!

Mags

:-)

Boy, I wish the key team members on this were more accessible right now. (Eowyn is at the FGS conference in Texas, Tami is returning from a vacation, and Paul is tied up with some family things.)

We do have a banner, Nae, but Eowyn has it. We should make the original art for it available, at the least. Tami did it so she could upload it somewhere.

We have "Greetings from WikiTree" postcards with this image (actual postcards) that work well as handouts. Eowyn could send you a stack but not in time for this weekend.

Chris, if you have (since everyone is away) some Graphics I could access I could whip something up for Nae to get printed at her local print shop.  Mags
Thanks, Mags! Check out http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_Images

I think those are the highest-res I have. There may be a somewhat larger one of the main logo.
Great minds Chris...
I found the PDF that Tami made for the banner! If it helps: http://www.wikitree.com/photo/pdf/WikiTree_Images
Nae - I have an email on the way to you now...Mags
Great!  Thanks all!  On the way to the printer now.  Hope it doesn't cost me a ton.  I'll take lots of pics, and let you know what we could have used in addition to this next week.  I know I am taking my lap top, but don't know if we will have Wi Fi available, so I am thinking that probably an information form with at least three generations (from there we can find anything), including email, etc, siblings, aunt/uncles, basically a genealogical interview sheet.  That would be a great help, plus, I think the old fashion paper and pen will also work but it wouldn't be as easy as a form on the computer.  IF we have WiFi, I'll be able to input directly...

Thanks again!  Much appreciated

PS I've known about this since the spring, so it's my fault that I didn't move earlier.  Didn't even think about it till Mags brought it up and Abby posted a note about it.  Great IDEA!  :)
Okay, have a banner. Thanks for the links!  I will let you know how it works.  I am taking some tools and 2x2"s in case I need to hang it independently.

I'm going to try and throw together a form that other's can fill out on the computer if we don't have WiFi (if we do, I am just going to either sign them up or make a profile and connect them when I get back).

I am wondering if I can hijack the blank profile form and edit it off line?  Anyone know if this is possible?  Thanks again!  :)
We'd love to see pictures, Nae!

Unfortunately, the form won't work if you're not online.

If you just want something to print, these may help: http://www.wikitree.com/printable/family-tree-diagram.html

Please see:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Multimedia

I am looking for participants in this project to help build a shareable library of materials of all sorts of media to be used for educational and promotional purposes re WikiTree.

Working on ideas and their feasibilty, through to actual media creation; audio, video, pdf, powerpoint, graphics, text. Any and all.

I have, today, created this page:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_Media

as a central directory / repository for all such media. Over the next few days I hope to populate it with a lot more material.

Great idea!  I am having problems with my own children refusing to believe that we are related to Barack Obama and The Queen.  I would love to blow their minds with a presentation.  When can we do this?

I can think of ways to do something like this... Could use some free space pages as well as profiles and images for the content...  I'll add it to my todo list! So when's the deadline? June 2015?
by Roland Arsenault G2G6 Mach 5 (58.8k points)
Today Roland, the deadline is today.  Not really, but I thiink it would be great to have something ready by March 2015 so we could be ready for all the reunions people go to starting in the early spring - Nothern Hemispherically speaking.

Mags
:) Oh how I wish I had infinte time to work on my infinite ideas! Let me think about it a while, I want to find the simplest, most flexible solution that's easy to implement. Ping me again when winter arrives (Northern Hemeisperically speaking as well of course) if I haven't followed up on this by then.
Nice Roland!  Yell if you need me!  Mags
From another G2G post Roland...

Branding and Pride...I wonder if Paul actually has slides made...

Mags
Roland, can I add you as a Multimedia Project member so I can be kept in the loop about your thoughts (and to keep you in the loop with what else might be going on in multimedia)? Your ideas would be very pertinent to the project.
