Sub Projects for Canadian History

There are a couple of Canadian History Sub Projects for provinces (Nova Scotia and Manitoba).  I'd like to work on Alberta and New Brunswick but have a couple of questions first.  Number one is how to create a 'Sub Project'? ... can I do that on my own?  Secondly, seems like there should eventually be a sub project for each province ... should those be created right now and let them sit idle or should we wait until someone gets the urge to work on each one before creation?  We do have existing data for each province so the sub project wouldn't be empty ... so many questions!

Anyone can lead a subproject (you don't have to be a Leader for that because there's a Leader leading the main project who is there to help as needed), but I think only Leaders can create a project page, so you'd need one of us to help with that initial step.

Personally, I don't think provincial subprojects should be created until there is someone actually working on them. The reason for that is that provincial subprojects take over management of a lot of profiles from the Canadian History project. I feel like creating subprojects with no one in them could result in some profiles being neglected that might otherwise be worked on under the main project.

As far as I know (not far enough!), a Leader or admin has to create project pages. So if you want to lead up a subproject, drop me or Lianne a line, and we'll do it. I'm excited that you want to take on New Brunswick and Alberta. New Brunswick is huge genealogically, and Alberta never gets enough information put online.

I'm with Lianne on creating subprojects as interest comes up, because someone has to curate the information and a placeholder would just kind of let it sit there like a lump. (Besides, regular projects are only created after there is sufficient interest, so subprojects should be the same. Fortunately, "sufficient interest" in a subproject is one person, and the main project leader.)
