Good Morning from Hawaii,
I am a lifelong, second generation, California resident - until a year ago when we moved our family to Hawaii.
I have been adding to my Wikitree family for almost a month. My husband and I both trace lines back to early immigrants (1600s) and I have found only one immigrant family after 1800. Several relatives a generation or two above me (and I am a generation from 1946) did a lot of genealogy research which I received in bits and pieces with little or no real source documentation.
Over the last 20-30 years I have stockpiled the letters, papers, files, and so on, and sorted, added to a computer file (now lost) and not been very attentive to the material I have.
I hope I can share the information I have and learn more about my ancestors from the information others share. I know there is a lot to learn! Much to the chagrin of my 13 year old granddaughter, I discovered, using WikiTree, that my husband and I are 19th cousins. But the common ancestor was a Baron or Lord, so that makes it OK.
There are some branches on my tree that are pruned at only 2 or 3 generations - deadends! There are no surname matches on WikiTree for my deadends. Can anyone suggest other good and low cost genealogy internet sites.
Earlier today I posted surnames of obituaries a great aunt collected, I hope you all will take a look and find something you are looking for in the range of about 1900 to 1925, and from Iowa, Indiana, and California.
