1775: April 19: Private under Capt. Samuel Douglass's company, Col. James Prescott Marched on the alarm; 5 days service. They were called back to Townsend to defend the town against the Tories. [2][3]
1777: September 26: enlisted. Private, under Captain James Holsey, Colonel Reed's Regiment: Marched to the assistance of Major General Gates. Discharged on November 9, 1777; service 1 month, 15 days. [3][2]

SEE: Ephraim Sawtell, son of Hezekiah and Joanna (Wilson) Sawtelle, b. January 18, 1734; m. December 22, 1757, Abigail Stone who was born December 2, 1736, dau. of Deacon James and Abigail (Farwell) Stone of Groton.
