Peter was born in February of 1798 to David F. Adams (1765–1842) and Sarah Magdalena DeHaven Adams (1772–1853) whom married in 1794. He married Elizabeth "Eliza" A. Fisher (1798–1885) on June 22, 1818 in Frederick County, Virginia:

The couple are listed with four children on the 1850 Census.[2] It is believed that they had at least seven children (although only four are currently linked on Find-a-Grave). He passed away at the age of 80 in 1878.[3]
