John Hart was born 30 Sep 1759 in Norwich Township, New London, Connecticut.[1]
Revolutionary War Veteran, a surgeon, from Connecticut, John Hart Adgate was the s/o Ruth Leffingwell and Thomas Adgate IV. John Hart Adgate married Sally Fitch October 10, 1782, in Norwich, Connecticut. [2]
They were the parents of Sally F, Belinda, Caroline, John Hart Jr., Anna, James F, Charles H, Ulysses, and Nancy.
Howland Township was drawn by Joseph Howland; the first land conveyance was made by Howland to John H. Adgate in 1799 of one thousand six hundred acres in consideration of $1600. Per Trumbull County History, Howland Twp, page 207, John and Sally Adgate and family were the first settlers in the township, taking residence in 1799. [3]
