Biography

Mary Elizabeth Aldridge was born about 1858, [1] the only one of her siblings born in Texas. Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Douglass died in 1896 and is buried in the Leonard, Fannin County cemetery.

Parents

She was the youngest child of James and Mary Chadwell Aldridge of Tennessee. Mary's parents were early settlers of Fannin County, Texas having settled near Orangeville between 1850 and 1860.

Marriage

She married Burtis Ferrell Douglass, of Sumner County, Tennessee who had come to Texas with his parents and siblings, originally settling near the young town of Sherman, Texas.

Children

They were married in 1875 and had six children, all born in Fannin County, Texas.
