ADDED BIOGRAPHY

FRANCES ANDERSON, daughter of Reynard Anderson and Elizabeth Skiffen, was born between 1663 and 1670 in Charles City County, Virginia, just northeast of current Petersburg, and died 1726 in Prince George County, Virginia. She married (1) JOHN HERBERT before 1687.[4] He was born 1659 in London, England, and died 16 March 1703/04 at “Puddledock,” Charles City County. She married (2) THOMAS COCKE ca. 1705 [or 1707?]. She married (3) JOSHUA WYNNE ca. 1711. He was born 1662 and died 1715 in Prince George County.

John Herbert, a wealthy trader, lived on his estate “Puddlecock,” east of Petersburg; the widowed Mrs. Herbert was credited with 3925 acres of land in the 1704 rent roll of Prince George County and 1360 acres in Henrico County

In 1716 (during her third marriage) Mrs. Frances Wynne was still executrix of (her first husband’s) Herbert’s estate. She made her own will on 16 October 1725, probated 4 March 1726/7.[5]

Frances’s second husband, CAPT. THOMAS COCKE was born ca. 1662, son of Thomas Cocke and (possibly) Agnes Powell. His will, 16 January 1706/7, with a codicil 14 February 1706/7, was proven 15 October 1725. In his will he named his issue: Thomas, James Powell, Brazure, Mary, and Elizabeth. These were all children by his first wife, Mary Brasseur of Nansemond, daughter of John Brasseur and Mary Pitt.[6]

Born in 1663 in Jordan’s Parish, Virginia, Joshua Wynne died in 1715 in Dinwiddie, Henrico County, Virginia. Joshua, who was an Indian interpreter, was killed by the Indians in revenge after his servant killed one of their “great men.” Joshua served as justice in the Charles City County court, sheriff of Prince George County, 1705-1712, and commanded various militia units in the Virginia colonies. He made several trips to England trading tobacco, was responsible for treaties with Indians from New York to Virginia, and mentioned numerous times as a close family friend of the Byrds of Westover.[8]

Joshua Wynne had a first wife, Mary Jones, who predeceased her husband sometime between 1707 and 1711, leaving him free to marry Frances (Anderson) (Herbert) Cocke.

update: merge completed

Cocke-559 and Anderson-13405 appear to represent the same person because: Cocke is her married name. These are duplicates for Frances Anderson that should be merged. Thanks!

birth year guess on Frances who married Herbert, daughter of Reynard Anderson is 1665ish.

The Frances Anderson who married Peter Wynne was born 1685ish - her profile is Anderson-4717. The WFT ref apparently combined them.

Given the birth years for the attached children, I'll edit her to be Reynard's dau. b 1665ish, 3rd husband Joshua (not Peter) Wynne.

attached to 2nd husband, Thomas Cocke, married about 1705 according to this online tree, which has her third husband (m c1710) as Joshua Wynne.

That site also shows her parents as Reynard & Elizabeth (Skiffin) Anderson.

See the site for additional info & citations.
