Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Judith (Armistead) Butts was a Virginia colonist.

Judith Armisted, daughter of Anthony Armistead and Hannah Ellyson, was born about 1672 in Elizabeth City County, Virginia.

Marriage and Issue

On October 15, 1698, in Elizabeth City County, Judith married John West III of West Point.[1] They had only one son, Charles West, who inherited the "West Point" estate of some four thousand acres. This son Charles died without issue and by his will dated 1734 bequeathed "West Point" to his first cousin Thomas West, son of his uncle Captain Thomas West.[2] [3]

Judith married second Capt. Thomas Butts of New Kent County and was living in 1734.[4]
