Biography

Bowles Armistead was born in 1752 in Hanover County, Virginia, the sixth of seven known children and the fourth of five sons of William and Mary Bowles Armistead.
In 1775, when he was in his earlier twenties, he married Mary Fontaine . She bore him five children, two sons and three daughters:
  1. William Bowles Armistead
  2. Peter Armistead
  3. Elizabeth Armistead
  4. Mary Bowles Armistead
  5. Unknown Armistead.
