Biography

Rachel Arnold was born about 1700 in King William, Virginia, the daughter of Anne and Benjamin Arnold. Her parents married ca. 1690. Her DOB is a best guess. She had four sons and one daughter with Francis (Sr.) Arnold. She died in Spotsylvania, Virginia.

Alternate pre-merge default bio: Rachael was born in 1685. Rachael Arnold ... She passed away in 1778.

Notes

While Rachel's dob is not stated, her mother's dob was given as 1672 in a disposition, so the earliest she could have been born is about 1688 which would still make her too young to be the mother of William Arnold with date currently shown for him.

See more records on her husband Francis' profile.

No marriage record has been found in Spotsylavania Co. for the 14 Dec 1727 date that was being used for a marriage date. There is a petition for the same date indicating that Rachel and Francis were already married by this time.

"14 December 1727 – At a council held at the Capitoll George Woodrooff having petitioned for a Grant of Three Hundred and Eighty acres of land in the County of King William (sic) surveyed for BENJAMIN ARNOLD deceased in the year 1715 which said BENJAMIN did devise the said land to his daughter RACHEL now the wife of FRANCIS ARNOLD, but no patent ever sued out for the same, and it appearing to this Board that ANNE ARNOLD the widow of the said BENJAMIN hath surreptitiously obtained a Copy of the aforesaid Survey and returned the same into the Secretary’s Office with intent to take out a Patent thereon; It is Ordered that no patent issue to the said ANNE, but that as well the said ANNE as the said FRANCIS ARNOLD and the petitioner do attend this Board on the 6th day of February next to make out their several pretensions to the said Lands."

Arnold-17606 and Arnold-73 appear to represent the same person because: Rachel and Francis are the parents of Ann Arnold Davenport and need merged to bring the family together. Rachel's mother is Ann unknown.

Arnold-4390 and Arnold-73 appear to represent the same person because: Pretty sure these Francis/Rachel Arnold couples are intended to be the same pair. Son, William would probably belong to the first wife, Frances, if Francis is his father.
