Biography

Catherine Asbury was born circa 1676, in Cople Parish, Westmoreland county, Virginia, a daughter of Henry Asbury and Mary Durrant, married about 1672, in Cople Parish. Catherine is named in the Will of Henry Asbury, written February 3, 1706 and probated April 30, 1707. Her brothers Henry and Thomas inherited 400 acres each, her brother Benjamin 100 acres and Catherine, one cow. [1]

In 1692, in Cople Parish, Catherine married William Remy, born January 16, 1672, in Cople Parish. Children of Catherine and William are:

  • Mary Elizabeth Remy, born circa 1693, died after 1738, in Westmoreland county, married William Saunders. Named as Mary Saunders in the Will of William Remy, written November 19, 1737, probated May 30, 1738
  • Asbury Remy, born circa 1694, died 1772, in Westmoreland county, married Elizabeth Neale
  • William Remy, born circa 1696, died circa 1758, in Frederick County, Virginia, married Barbara Byram
  • Jacob Remy, born 1698, died circa 1735, in Cople Parish, married Anne Carr
  • Katherine Remy, born 1710, named as Katherine Wormouth in the Will of William Remy, written November 19, 1737, probated May 30, 1738
  • John Remy, born 1712, died 1791, in Henry county, Virginia, married Mary Linton
  • James Remy, born circa 1715, died circa 1757, in Frederick county, Virginia, married Elizabeth Saunders
  • Daniel Remy, born 1720, died circa 1763, in Frederick county, Virginia

Catherine (Asbury) Remy died circa 1738, in Cople Parish, Westmoreland county, Virginia
