Her name might seem "unscottish", but she was born only ~150 years after MacAlpin conquered the Picts and eventually united the tribes to form Alba. There still would have been a considerable presence of Anglo-Saxons in the area (and also Britons and probably still Picts). It seems entirely possible that Wulfflaed was named for a relative who was of Anglo-Saxon descent.

For example, her son (Maldred) married an Anglo-Saxon woman named Ealdgyth, the daughter of Uhtred the Bold of Northumbria. Her other son, none other than Duncan I, married Suthen Sibylla, an Anglo-Saxon woman of Northumbria.

It seems entirely plausible that somewhere in either House Dunkeld or House MacAlpin, there were other Anglo-Saxons from which a child might inherit their name. This was all before the clans and identity of Scotland as we know it today had formed, as well.
