Research Notes

According to the marriage record between Levina and Hendrik van der Walt on 10 Oct 1863, he was a widower aged 60 and she a widow aged 50. This would put her d.o.b. as 1813 and his 1803. Her date of birth is given elsewhere as 26 Sep 1813 at Graaff Reinet, and she is recorded as having married first Jacob Petrus Kruger. Hendrik (27 Aug 1803 to 4 Jun 1877) had a child Martha Helena van der Walt (1806-1866), who married a Lessing. Added by Ian McArthur at 14:55, 22 July 2015.
