Alexis Aucoin, son of Joseph Aucoin
and Marie Josephe Hebert, was born 6 April 1765 in Tremereuc, St. Malo, Cotes-du-Nord, France while his parents were in exile from Acadia. He was christened there 7 April 1765.[2]
Twenty years later he traveled from France to Louisiana aboard the Spanish ship La Ville d'Archangel with his father, Joseph; 3 brothers, Mathurin, 14; Joseph, 10; Fabien, 15; and his father's cousin, Marie Ozitte Braud, as family #4. They arrived in New Orleans on 3 December 1785. Alexis was 20 years old.[3][4]

He lived the rest of his life in Lafourche, Louisiana.
1810 Census, Lafourche, Louisiana. [8]By 1810 they were living in Lafourche Parish, part of the United States Territory of Orleans, a few years before statehood. This area was comprised of mainly French-speaking Acadians, French, Spanish, Germans, and others who over time all became known as Cajuns. Alexis was listed as being 45 years old with his wife and seven children. On the census, he is listed as living at dwelling 481. [9]
Alexis died in Lafourche Parish Louisiana 25 March 1826 and was buried in Thibodaux, Lafourche, Louisiana. [11]
