Agnes Audley married Mark Williams in St. Albans in 1561. Agnes and Mark Williams were the parents of James Williams, a member of the Merchant Tailors’ Company in 1587. James married Alice Pemberton and resided in London where their son Roger Williams was born in 1603 in London. The will of James Williams in 1621 leaves bequests to his wife, Alice, and sons, Sydrach (Shadrach), Roger and Robert as well as daughter Catherine. Shadrach was also a member of the Merchant Tailors’ Company. Alice’s will in 1634 left £10 yearly for twenty years to her son Roger Williams then beyond the seas. Roger Williams was born in 1606 and raised in the parish of St. Sepulchres, without Newgate, London. He studied at Sutton’s Hospital, Charter House, in London, and Pembroke College at Cambridge University til 1627. Aboard the ship Lyon, he and his wife, Mary Barnard, arrived in Boston.
