A previous version of this profile claimed that he was the William Austin (Austen) who was baptised in Aldingbourne, Sussex on 29 July 1668, son of Gulielmi (William) and Annam Austen.[1]. But that person (represented on WikiTree as William Austen-1550) was born, lived and died in England as did his parents.
This profile represents William, the son of Bill Austin, famous Indian Scout, who as a boy was supposedly captured by Indians, remained with them, and allegedly married a daughter of Wamsutta (who was himself son of Massasoit and brother of King Philip). And that William’s sons, Benoni and John, went to Wales, Maine from New Meadows (part of Brunswick, Maine).
A link to a compilation of Austin Family Association newsletters was included to support these claims (of the Indian Scout's son being captured), but that link was examined and there is no such reference to this story.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
THIS profile represents a man who was supposedly captured by Indians when he was five, and raised by them.
However, we're seeking reliable sources for these claims.
