Biography

  • Marion Baillie was the daughter of Sir William Baillie of Lamington.
  • She married, firstly, John Lindsay, 3rd Lord Lindsay of the Byres, son of John Lindsay, 1st Lord Lindsay of the Byres and Agnes Stewart. Her married name became Lindsay. She was also known as Mariot.
  • She married, secondly, Sir Robert Douglas of Lochleven, son of Sir Henry Douglas of Lochleven and Elizabeth Erskine, between 1500 and 1503.

Michael Stafford
The vitals say she married Robert Douglas in 1495, but this is incorrect because her first husband was still alive. The bio date of between 1500 and 1503 makes more sense, John Lindsay having died c. 1498. Perhaps 1495 is when she married John (at about age 15, though many websites say she was born c. 1460).

Scots Peerage https://archive.org/details/scotspeeragefoun05paul/page/394/mode/2up states that she married Robert Douglas 'before' 1503, after Jon Lindsay had died between 29 Sep and 5 Nov 1797.
