Obituary

Michael Barkman, Civil War veteran and farmer, died at his home Chapman's Run, Monroe Township, August 12th at 9 p.m., aged 84 years, ? months and 28 days.
He is survived by one son, Daniel C., Southampton Township and was the son of Hezekiah and Barbara Barkman. Fifty eight years ago he married ------ ------, now deceased, and is ----. . . .
Mr. Barkman enlisted in the Union Army in Co. B., 132nd Heavy Artillery and was discharged in July of '65.
The funeral services will be held this Friday afternoon in the Zion church and will be conducted by Rev. Reynolds of the Lutheran church of which Mr. Barkman was a member. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining the church. (Source: Bedford Gazette, August 15, 1919)[1]
