Maria "Mary" Barr was born in 1784 in Virginia, the daughter of Robert Barr and Rebecca (Tilton) Barr. In 1787 her family moved to the "Blue Grass" that became Kentucky.
She is referred to as Maria in all legal documents at the Fayette County courthouse, but the name appears as Mary in family records.[1]
